  • Valve train noise

I got a valve train noise in the right bank. After I rev it sounds like there are loose parts rolling around then it goes away. The engine is vibrating more then normal aswell. I removed the valve cover and inspected the rockers and pushrods, and reset the valve adjustment but it didn't help. Any ideas?

3.4 pushrod, 11:1 compression, comp 252 cam, 1.6:1 rockers, SI stainless valves, Torker II intake, Headman headers, 4.3 throttle body/injectrs, Jet chip, MSD Coil/wires.

    I figured it out!

Well if you beleive it- was the new mufflers I put on! I have a flowmaster on and my friend gave me a set of Mazda RX-7 mufflers to try out. It sounded really tight, But the low/low end torqure was bad. The inlets were alot smaller then my flow master too. I took them off and problem solved! I guess it enough backpressure to cause my engine to shake and the valvetrain to rattle.

      Dude! Really?

I've got a ticking noise on my 2.8L (1990 Isuzu Trooper) after replacing a bad camshaft, and lifters (plus the timing chain and sprockets). The ticking noise is all over the valvetrain.

I guess my catalytic coverter could be clogged. Backpressure could do that?

      Huh.
