  • Transmission bell torque specs? (front wheel drive)

I need the torque specs for the 3 bolts that attach the engine gear to the transmission bell. I'm sure it's critical so I figured I'd check.

    Thanks.

A make and model would be a good place to start. Also, I've never seen a transmission that attaches to an engine with only three bolts. I highly doubt it's critical. I'd just tighten'em.

im gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you mean the bolts that tighten the flex plate (engine gear) to the torque converter (this is not the transmission bell, the closest thing to that is the transmission bellhousing, and that is part of the tranny case).

you tighten them up as tight as you can with a normal length wrench. i cant remember the torque spec, but it isnt critical that its perfect.

Yeah, I should probably learn the lingo. I have a problem with that, I could tell you how anything works under a hood, but I couldn't tell you half of what the names are, go figure.
