  • 3.1 strange behavior!

Aquired a 91 Beretta GT 5 speed this summer. I did plugs and wires when i got it 6 months ago, and it ran great untill recently.

3 weeks ago, the car would not fire. Checked the CPS and it gave no signal, so i replaced it. Car now started and ran fine utill warmed up, where the idle would fluxate and it would stall. I replaced the ECT and it did nothing, so i put in a new ICM and the car ran great for 2 weeks.

1 week ago the car died on me after 20 mins of driving, just shut off mid downshift. It would crank but not fire. After 5 minuets, the car started and made it the 2 min ride home, but died in the driveway with the same issue. The car runs fine untill it's hot, then it dies for a while. It has a steady 40 psi at the rail.

I put in 3 new coils today, and it seemed to make a difference because it would run when hot in the driveway. On the test drive i punched it in first, and the tach went to about 4500 (without the usual wheelhop) immediatly fluxated, fell, and the car died for another 5 mins.

Any ideas?? I found this site to be a great tool so far, but haven't been able to figure this out.

Problem solved. I replaced the ICM this past weekend and the car ran fine, no stalling. I guess i had ruled out a failing ICM because it was only a month old. I just learned i may have nuked it pulling wires to check for spark. Could the poor quality of my cheap plug wires have hurt it too? At least there was a lifetime replacement warrantee on the ICM!
