  • Spark Plug Help

Alright, Going to be replacing the plugs in the car with some new ones.

Rather then have people just tell me what are good plugs to go with I have decided to go with AC Delco Copper Plugs. However I was givin 2 plug models and 2 GM part numbers aswell. I need to know what the difference is between the two before I purchace these...

However if someone would like to suggest a better plug? By all means suggest and give reasons for it.

*NOTE* This summer I was getting up to 12* of KR with a OBD-II scanner.

Gen 3 3400 (03' year) with a couple modifications, Nothing internally.

    AC Delco = 41-601, GM = 5614284
    AC Delco = 41-606, GM = 5614303

Keep in mind these were crossed with a Autolite Copper plug. And I seem to have also seen that these cross with a NGK TR55 aswell?

One is most likely Platnium and the other is a Rapid Fire or possibly Iridium.

Call your dealer and ask it will say in the computer.

I run iridium plugs and love them.

Boy this site has really slowed down... Seems like there was more freaquent posting back in the last 2 years.

      better:
These part numbers came from a GM dealer who couldnt tell the difference.

Tell the parts boy to get off his ass and go look LOL... It will say right on the screen what plug is what. I have seen it myself. If not I can check for you monday and let you know the P/N

        Or try www.gmpartsdirect.com

Well as you can see I posted the GM part numbers. It's just we can't figure out the exact different between the two plugs exactly.

I think i'm just gonna say fuck it and buy the TR55's (Copper) and forget the Delco plugs as they are the same according to the research I have done.

Delco makes great plugs. Run them you wont regret it.

Another thing your dealer can do is enter your vin and it will give the specific P/N of the original equipment plugs.

Both numbers in GMPD show a price of $2 retail. So right there I know it is not platnium. They are most likely rapid fires.

I shouldn't have any issues with the rapidfire plugs eh?

Also what is the gapping required for the 3400? I can't remember what the plugs are supposed to be gapped at.

No you wont. However I would run Platniums. They will be good for 100,000KMS and run better.

Not interested in that Plats. But thanks for the help.

Do you know the proper gap? I think it's .045"

.060 (it will say on your emissions sticker)

Make sure you get the rapid fires. They will have a smaller electrode than the conventional plug. They will only be slightly more money than regular plugs.
