  • '94 Cruiser 3100 no start... HELP!

    Hi gang,

Been lurking and registered to ask for some help. My wife's '94 Cruiser (3100 SFI- 144,xxx mi.) stalled out Tues., and had it towed to the house

Key on - fuel pump won't prime. No fuel pressure. Tested it 2 mo. ago with a new gauge and it was within spec (I forget the #). I swapped solenoids and it still won't prime. If I jump the test lead to 12V the pump runs, but sounds sick....not sure if I didn't give it a good connection. Gauge got to 34 PSI, but last night it only got to 28 PSI. I bought a pump, but don't want to go through the hassle if this is not the immediate problem. When I jumped the pump and it had pressure, shouldn't the car have started? This makes me wonder if it's something else

I checked for spark, and I got some, but it looked weak, but I didn't have alot of time last night.

The car has new/ newer Delco wires, Champion plugs, Bosch O2, Crank position sensor, fuel filter, upper intake gaskets, oil drive o-ring, emission hoses, and TB cleaned. It normally runs great.

Sorry for the long post. Any advice appreciated

    Update!

OK, I got it to run, but still have some q's.

I used a little starting fluid to see if it would start. It did. It's not getting voltage to the orange "hot always" wire at the fuel pump solenoid. Giving that a good 12V connection primes the pump (42 PSI), and allows the car to start and run.

The owner's manual and my Chilton's book show a "fusible link D" and a fuel pump fuse (15A) just before the solenoid/ oil pressure switch junction.

Does anyone know where these are located? All I've found is "located under hood. Contact dealer for service .

    Thanks!
