last week had problems with my 95 grand am 3100 v6

now to day it would not start up. the car might only start for a few seconds, there seems to be lack of fuel pressure, actually the pump only cuts in some times. its a new pump i installed last week, so where is the fuel pump relay, fuel pump press switch or anthing else that will control the fuel pump.

    thanks in advance

One way to test the pump is to turn the key to the run position (don't start the car). If the pump is working you should hear a slight hum for a second or two as it pressurizes the fuel system.

take a rubber hammer or a piece of wood and lightly rap on the bottom of the fuel tank. if the pump is bad and has a dead spot, it could shift it off the dead spot and get it to work temporarily, just like you can do to a starter with a dead spot. besides that, id say check the fuses. there might also be a fuel pump relay. i'm unsure how you'd check the relay besides just swapping in a new one. good luck..
