  • A/C

A friend of mine owns a 1994 Olds Cutlas Ceira Cruiser w/ a 3100. His A/C is blowing hot. We already tried recharging the system.

In short, I have never had a compressor go bad on me so I am not sure what to look for. If a compressor goes bad do they make noise or give of any sign that they are broken? Cause everthing apears to be working just fine, but it isn't.

Any other input would be great. Thanks!

feel the low pressure side and the high pressure side of the system,(feel the lines)if one side is hot and the other side not then im sure you have a leak and the refridgerant is low

i think there are different ways the a/c compressor can go
maybe a search on google will give you some trouble shooting tips and hits

could even be a bad sensor on one of the coolant lines and its cutting off the compressor from turning on(thinks its low on refridgerant)
turn on the a/c and see if the compressor cycles
im no pro on cooling systems but here are some ideas for ya

you need to check the system in stages, find your low pressure switch, depending on whether you system is power or ground activated you need to check on either side, or temporarily put a jumper in the low pressure switch plug, if it doesnt activate the clutch, unplug and check for power and ground at the clutch, if you have power and ground at the clutch there is a good chance the electromagnet melted. i'm not sure if the car has a a/c thermostat switch, if it does that can cause the same problem. have you checked all the fuses and relays?
