I was prepping my car for the beach trip when I noticed a little puddle of oil in the recess of the block under the throttle body. I replaced that stupid O ring only about 30k miles ago with a part from the local dealership, does anybody know of an "improved" version that I should look for?

install a new o-ring, along with a distributor gasket for a small-block chevy V8.... If you really don't want it to leak again, spray the gasket with Permatex Ultra-Copper spray..

was the replacement o-ring brown, or black? The brown ones hold up to anything. if you want extra insurance, smear some RTV around the mating surface between the block and cap. Or the SBC gasket, never tried that one but sounds goodBrian

The replacement came from the local Chevy dealer, was a buck thirty eight, and was brown. I just got back from Autozone, I picked up a 2 pack of brown ones (HELP! # 90441 for two bucks. I guess I'll try a little permatex form-a-gasket or something between the block and cap... and I hope that'll fix it... if not, I've got intake manifold or other issues.

Yea man just seal it with silicone. Everyone else does it. Seems to be the only permanent solution. LOL we just pulled out my buddies 1990 Z24 3.1L and found silicone uder the cap. Looks like it was a leaker too.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

oh man.....
a guy i work with at our dealership had a customer bring in his 3100 for work, upon "TRYING" to remove the lower intake manifold and to no avail.... they asked the guy what the hell was up....
he replied he was tired of the constant leaking of the lowermanifold gaskets, so he JB Welded the manifold to the block....
this is not a lie.. fucking retard.. poor blake had to explain to the guy he might as well toss his engine now because trying to separate teh two and get them to have proper sealing surfaces again was going to cost more in time and parts than worth his trouble... LMAO... sad sad true story...Colin

Knowing what I know about the retardation of people in general, the guy probably thought it was part of the block and was never supposed to come off in the first place.\"I think I\'ll take this oppurtunity to remove my ears.\"
