I was taking off the UD crank pulley and when I was putting the stock pulley back on, I realized that part of the tool that takes off the pulley broke off and is now lodged in where the crank pulley bolt goes. I don't have any idea how to get it out...

If that is what I think it is, you have a problem. Might be possible to drill and tap it with a 1/4" 20 and use a slide hammer. Probably messed up a few threads. If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

No man thats a threaded hole. A slide hammer wont move it... You have to drill it out and use a easy out or something.
Fuck your fucking, fucked. Its such bitch removing broken bolts. Especially when it is something sensitive like a crank1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

Crank is a lot harder than the cheap puller he was using. May have scarred the threads a little, but the force used to pull an aluminum UD pulley isn't that much. An easy out may work also, but drill it to at least 3/8", or for you Canadiens...9.5mm.
I emphasize the word "may", because, when you pushed it in, you didn't cut any threads on the plug.
And don't forget to chase your threads after you get it out.
(I keep editing!) You better try the slide hammer first. Cause if the easy out doesn't work, you won't find a slide hammer to fit a .375 hole. You can always drill out from .250 to .375.
(1 more time) Next time use a puller with a larger taper. Of a good brand like Mac or Snap-On etc. The cheepies get you in trouble fast.If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

I think the hole is 15mm which I believe is a half inch or so.1995 Monte Carlo LS

Can you get a better picture? Maybe back alittle further? I just want to see it better...
When I put in my new 3400, I pulled the pullet off without the cap on the puller, which forced the stud into the crank, and also the threads. I was able to run a tap into the crank and clear the threads just fine.-Brad-

lol @ betterthanyou
my 2 cents, drill the center of the peice that is logged in there with 1/4'' drill and then get an "easyout" or equivilent and tap it very lightly to "set" it into the piece that got broken off into the crank.
then with luck you can un-screw it out of the crank, the clockwise threads of the crank will naturally allow or guide the broken piece out when unscrewing it, like a bolt...
then bring the actual crank bolt that you have into a parts store and ask them for a tap with that size and thread pitch, then go home and work it carefully into the crank, make sure its strait becuase you dont want to cut "cross threads".
in and out a few times should do the trick.
looks like you marred up the timing chain cover pretty bad using a "pickle fork" a tool used to take some ball joints off...that sucks. (never use those tools to get any pullys off) patients and good tools are the key, other wise... "that" happens
good luck

Hey Richard. Keep going up in sizes of the easy out. You may have to try to drill the bolt out close to its actualy size to get it to release but that is very tricky because if you use the wrong angle you can drill out the threads or too deep in the head.95 Beretta Z-26
