Bad voltage regulator. Few questions

I know the voltage regulator is built in the alternator on the 3x00's. Here is the short delima. I need an alternator to work with my current 95 3100 of course. For the time being until I drop in the 3400 in 3 months. Do all 3100 alternators work with 3400 alternators? And vis versa? So could I buy a 3400 alterntaor and have it be a direct bolt on on my 3100?

I would like to swap the alt to the new motor when the new motor is dropped in.

Go to the parts store and ask to see one from each motor and compare them. Im going to guess either one will work just fine, but compare to be sure. Might also check the part numbers too.

I know there is a place that sells pigtail alt converters. I forget if it is for 3400 tio 3100? or 3100 to 3400?

no where locally has 3400 alts

The alt changed after 95 or so... As long is you get one of the correct style it will work.
