  • code M 3100 is alive again

2 pm to day I finally got the 96 3100 running.
This was a total overhaul, new pistons rings and bearings with a head job with the pesty spark plug inserts.
Sort of a non event, it started and run in 5 seconds, nothing like a computer to take care of all the details.
One of the hardest problems was sorting out all the wiring and getting everything back where it goes. If you leave the cable off the crankshaft position sensor, I DID. You had better have some long arms to get that sucker on.
It is running on 5w30 havolene oil from walmart, stuff is about like water.
In my older cars, I run a 448 CI Mopar big block in a 73 Dodge Dart (very old tech). I run Delo 15W40 diesel oil.
After 100 miles rack up on the 3100 and the skin grows back on my hands I will be ready to add the turbo!!!!!

how much did the rebuild cost? i busted the crank shaft in my 94 3100 and got a low mileage 2002 3100 for $250.00. Car runs great now, better performance than original engine had. would run even better still if someone would reprogram 94-96 ECMs!
