  • Very Rich 3.1L

i have a 91 chevy beretta with the 3.1L. i have built this motor up about a year ago and for some reason now, it runs extremely rich. i have put in a new fuel pressure regulator, new injectors, new buick grand national fuel pump, tps sensor, knock sensor, water temp sensors, iat sensor and everything else is new except the map sensor. (all sensors are ac delco). it used to only run rich on fire up if it was hot outside, it would puff a little black smoke and then run fine, but now it runs rich as soon as the motor starts. i checked the plugs and they have some carbon on them and will be replaced soon (ac delco rapid fires). would could possibly causing this motor to run rich. it has a custom jet-performance chip that has run fine for over a year. i disconnected the battery and let it sit for a couple of hours today and nothing. any info would be greatly appreciated.

    thankx

    RE: Very Rich 3.1L

just to be sure, I would take that chip out and run it with the stock one.

im gonna change the plugs out tomorrow and see what that does first, and then change out the chip if that doesnt work. im hoping one of these things fix it. i'll post what happens tomorrow.

Not to be an @$$ but you did not mention the o2 sensor.Did you check that.

make sure you check it though, i've had them be contaminated by something and "work" enough for the computer not to throw a code but the car ran shitty.

its easy enough if you have a scope/scantool or multimeter
