Well today i went to go get some videos of my car and it ended rather quickly. After a few tests it turns out that around 4000, the engine starts feeling like its misfiring. It has a hard time getting past 4000 but after around 4600 it goes away. However, if i accelerate slowly, it doesnt happen, its only under 3/4 - WOT acceleration. Now pretty much ever since i completed the motor i have had a dead spot around 4000. The car would accelerate quickly to 4000 and then wouldnt pick up until around 5000. As if the car just couldnt breathe in that spot. I have dealt with that problem for almost 2.5years now, about 40k miles.
Yesterday i decided to wash the motor with Simple Green which was my first worry that something got wet. However, i covered the alt with a plastic bag and hosed the motor from a distance of atleast 4ft and it wasnt a power washer hose, just a hose hooked up to the house. I just find it susicious that the spot where the vibration/misfire feeling happens is exactly where ive had a dead spot all this time. I tryed reseting the computer and did a relearn but nothing changed.
For those who may not remember or know, the work that i did to the motor consisted of FFP Computer Chip (which i talked to Ben with), Crane 2030 cam with accompaning Crane valvetrain, Comp 1.52 rockers, ported heads, 10.1 forged pistons, 2step colder AC Delco plugs, and 8.5mm Magnecor wires. Other mods are FDP UD pulley, FFP 62mm TB, and catback but all thats irrelevant. I replaced the ECM and ICM about 25k ago.
If anyone has some ideas please let me know. Like i said, the feeling sounds like a misfire but no codes are thrown when it temporarily happens. Its a vibration that i hear/feel coming from the motor. My father feels it could be the transmission slipping since it happens under hard accel only, but the fluid is clear red and was also replaced about 7k ago, maybe less. Thank you for any help.
