  • Just a question...

Hey, I haven't posted for awhile, but I guess i haven't had any problems on my car either. But i do read posts everyday, just to soak in more knowledge. Here's the thing, I was going to have some time to play around with my car this weekend, and I'm wondering if it wasn't a bad idea to swap out that oil pump drive seal since mine hasn't been switched yet, that I know of. My car "weeps" oil, but never enough to add any between changes. Someone said it looks like a main seal, but I need to look at it myself to know for sure. What do you think?

To get right out you have to take the intake off. So you will need thoes gaskets aswell. If you do it change the o-ring and also add a SBC distributor drive gasket to it aswell.

Hey, I actually tackled the little oil problem last night since I didn't have to work, and it went easier than I thought it would, and I didn't have to remove the intake either. I looked at that one instruction posted a few days ago that told of how to do it. I just skimmed it and neglected to print it out or anything. Well, said and done, When I got to the piece itself, the O-ring didn't really look bad, but I replaced it anyway. Also, when putting it back together, I realized that when I had removed it, it wasn't seated all the way down. It was popped up about an 1/8 inch and bolted on like that, as far as I remember. anyway, I put everything together, let the fuel pump prime a few times, and she fired right up without any problems, and so far no more oil leaking out that I can tell. Thanks for the help. I have more questions later.
