cylindar bank numbering 3100

I know this is dumb but I was just cleaning the lower intake manifold on our M 3100. Cast into the intake runners are cylindar numbers. It is labeled from: standing at the front of the engine 2 4 6 on the left and 1 3 5 on the right. Last time I checked my manuals the front right is 2 not 1. you would think that if something is cast in it should be correct. Is there another version of this engine that the layout agrees with?? Or has mine been running a long time totally miswired.

The problem is, the cast markings are for the ports. Since the ports cross over the block to the opposite side, the numbers are therefore on the opposite side.
