  • Quick pushrod head question

I found a pair of roller heads that I'll need for my topend swap on my 94 3100. The only problem is that the guy says that on each head, one of the exhaust manifold studs is broken off.

Are the studs easily replaceable? Or should I just keep looking

    Thanks

depends on the price. if they are a really cheap, it hink its only 10 bucks a stud to have them drilled out and helicoiled at a shop

It will probably end up being 75-80 shipped including rockers

if there is enough sticking out, you might be able to just get it out with videgrips. I know that worked for me several times.

          Ditto.

In fact, I pulled all the studs out of my 3100 heads since a few of them were broken off, and then I used the bolts from the Gen II heads to bolt the manifolds on. It worked quite well.

When I removed the original heads on my 3100, there were broken studs sitting in the heat shield! (two front, two rear) The remaining studs in the head were below the surface of the head so there was nothing to grab. I don't know if someone overtorqued them at the factory or what, but the remaining studs + nuts got a nice coating of anti-sieze from me. I also used a few gen-2 bolts to replace, however I had to add a couple of stainless steel washers due to the increased length. If you're using the gen-3 exhaust manifolds, you will need about 1/8" thick worth of washers if you go that route.

you know, I knew I'd do this
I missed the end of the auction and they ended up with 0 bids at $30

Oh well, just have to wait for them or another set to be listed.

Anyone have any pics of the stamped versus the roller rockers?
When looking at them from above, the stamped rockers have a more rounded edge compared to the more squared off profile of the roller rockers right?
Do these look like roller rockers?

Those are definately roller rockers. They are beefier than the stamped ones, and you can almost see the roller part of the rockers (its in line with where they are bolted to the heads). The rollers are more boxy (from the top) whereas the stamped are more curved.

do the stamped ones sit on a stud like the gen2 stuff, or are they bolted down too?
