  • Anal retentave mechanic here...

lmao... I'm sure some of you will get a kick outta this, but when installing the oil pan, you gotta put a few dabs o' selant around the crankshaft rear main bearing cap. I have 2 tubes o' sealant, would you use:

    A) 12345739 "RTV Silicone Selant"
    B) 12346141 "Assembly Adhesive"

The tube of 'B' reminds me of the yellow cans of Kroger beer labeled "BEER". lol, only it is white...

    Or finally:

    C) Use whatever you can jackass!

lmao... On a serious note, it seems shops are using nuttin but 12346141...
    Regards,

    Todd E. Johnson

They didn't have a new PN to cross-referenece to? Yeah, those PNs are from a 94 Service Manual. I'll have to see if I can update them with the link you gave (very interesting, BTW!).

I don't think he really took the time to. He said they use the assembly adhesive for about everything now... But. I wasn't about to go dealership to dealship to find out. It is easier to post here

Thanks! Since I have a good ole brand new tube o the grey stff, I may as well give it a shot. Looks as if it's out-dated too, lol

Label says "Use for sealing engine oil joints only"

The information you provided will come in helpfull on the spare block I intend to build in the near future...
