a waitress at work has a 96-ish i think grand am. it hasnt movved for quite some time, now its in a shop. the problem is it won't start, the way she decribes it sounds like a fuel delivery problem, tries to start but to no avail.
so i think its either a fuel pump, or maybe scince she ran out of oil at one time,or so she said, which caused quite a number of other problems (collapsed lifters and something else i dont remeber), that the oil pump fried and there isnt enough oil presure for the pcm to justify letting the motor run. then i almost dismissed that because no oil = no pressure = shouldnt have self destructed.
as it is now, if she has to have the motor replaced i can snag her old one for $100. even if it needs completely redone, i think its a good deal. not like i can ever get anything without taking it apart anyways. I'll have a block with a better oiling system and stuff to build better power on later down the road.
what are the chances of a small victory on my part? or is it most likely an easily remedied situation?
