  • Missing Out When Accelerating

usually under heavy acceleration. I changed the spark plugs about 3000 miles ago. It started missing out shortly afterwards. I don't know if I gapped the plugs too tight or if I broke a wire. Crusing at speed it runs great, but under heavy acceleration it misses out. It also seems as though it's only 1 cylinder every time. I can say that because it has that certain sound to it. It is definitly not a random misfire or a random cylinder.

I know I should just go ahead and replace plugs again along with wires. But, what is everyone's deduction on this problem.

ALSO, what is the correct plug gap?

Back then I think it was .045. Check you emissions sticker it will say there.

Also you need to test the coil packs or maybe just replace them. If you have never done wires than do that too. But dont change the plugs again if you bought good one.

Note: Bosch is not a good plug.

Missing under heavy acceleration is normally an ignition problem. Make sure you are using double platinum plugs with the right gap for your motor. I agree for what ever reason I have not had good luck with the Bosch plugs in a 3.1L engine they seem to cause more misfiring than others, I don?t know why. Make sure your wires are in good shape as well.
