  • engine knocking/chattering

about 2 days ago me and a freind got out of skool and we headed for the car and jumped in and saw this kid with his stuypid rice burner so we waited for him to get infront of the car and i started the car and held it flat with no muffler it scared the shit out of him anyways then we headed home revvin the car some more times and then about a mile or 2 away i noticed my check engine light was on so when i got home i checked it with the dia. system and it didn;t bring any codes up so i left it got and then today i went to get gas and i was kinda pushin it 60 -90 entire way and the right side of the car was makin a chattin sound like a stick was stuck under the car and was hittin the spokes on the tire. i went to my g/fs house and checked and there was nothing i could see so i started the car again and opened the hood and its comin from the engine on the left side. It seems worse when i get it gas. Anyone know what it is and know how i can fix it. Is the engine going out?

Edit: i also changed my fuel filter that day after skool and the car was run for no more then 2 hours between those days.

Actually, the symptoms you describe sound about normal for the amount of abuse you've dealt your car. Drive it till the wheels fall off, and buy a Dodge Neon.

sounds like it was beat on entirely too much and it spun a bearing or tossed a rod or has some sort of internal damage.

i looked at the manual i got for the car it it said that it could be wrong grade of fuel, faulty emission system, worn spark plugs or wires, carbin build up in the cylinder. Would any of this effect the car in the way that its happening to my car. Me and my dad took a like and he thought it sounds like the bearings went out in it. Anyone else wanna take a shot and what it might be. I didn't beat the car i took care of the engine. just messed around a few times

does the noise get faster as the rpms climb? if so, unless by some chance you have a rocker arm or push rod out of wack. you engine simply put, is cooked, done.

the way you were talking, it sounds like you beat on it. thats the way i see it. and in the winter beating on it is so much worse for it since the oil gets real thick and when its cold it takes awhile to heat up the oil to operateing temp. it sounds like you reved too high one too many times before it was warmed up.

drop your oil pan down and collect the remains. time for a rebuild / new engine. use this as an expensive lesson.

yes well. the guy before me that had the car never took care of it. i changed the oil 2nd day i had it and it was all clumpy and shit. few weeks ago i changed the anti-freeze and that was brown and the trans is shot. Now i have a good reason to rebuild a 3.1 turbo with a 282 getrag and drop that in

"we waited for him to get infront of the car and i started the car and held it flat with no muffler"

And you wonder why this engine blew up???
You cant start an engine and rev it the minute that it starts, the oil probably didn't even have a chance to distribute through the engine, and then taking ambient temperature into consideration if it was at all cold out the oil was probably thick and it would just take longer to go through the passages.
Basically what I am trying to say us !!!!FACE IT YOU NEED A REBUILD BECAUSE YOU BEAT THE TAR OUT OF IT!!!!!!!

Thanks for tuning in and have a lovely day!
