tracing a IAT problem

I've got a stock 98 malibu 3100, that just popped the check engine light. The trouble code I got was a high voltage on the IAT(intake air temp) sensor. I tested the sensor with a infrared ambient temperature gauge and ohmmeter and the sensor works fine according to specification... Any suggestions?

replace it anyway, they are cheap

and just because it was ok when you tested it, does not mean that it was ok when the light was set.
