I've got a problem here guys. I have a 90 Beretta GT 3.1 auto. I put my car in storage about a month ago. What happened is that on friday i started my car, and it started fine, but say 2 minutes later it just shut right off. I've checked for spark, plugs, fuel pressure, fuses, codes and everything is fine. Could it be faulty fuel injectors, or the fuel pump is gone. Engine was rebuilt 2 months ago. So any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

when it died, did it sputter or start to miss??? did you try to restart it???did you let it cool right off and try it again???
take the cap off the schrader valve on the fuel rail and press down on it (stand clear when u do it) and see if fuel comes out. if it sprays out, the fuel pump is fine. im doubting it would be injectors, as all 6 injectors wont just die simotaniously. check thew wiring going to the injectors, if it has come loose, it could cause this.
im gonna say start checking ignition stuff. check the wring on the coilpacks and the crank position sensor. it could be the cps itself, or it could be the ignition module (coil plate). the cps isnt that expensive, so try that first. its a bitch to change on an auto, but the cheapest and could very well be the problem.

I took the cap of the valve and gas does come out so it not the fuel injectors or the fuel pump. I'll check the CPS and the ignition module. It has been cold lately here in toronto say for the past 2 weeks. The car is in the garage, but the garage is not heated. Post up some more ideas people cause It would help me alot. I'll post updates tomorrow.a.k.a John K.

It only cranks but does not turn over. It does have have a new crankshaft sensor and was put in when the rebuilt was put in. Forgot to mention that I also check for codes and nothing came up. One of the main reason is that its bitterly cold here so if i can't figure this problem out by at least tomorrow late afternoon, off to the mechanics it goes.a.k.a John K.

Pull some sensors and crank the motor. The computer may be shot so trying to get a code to show up may help. Bad ECMs don't throw codes sometimes.
Are you sure the injectors are pulsing? You will need a pressure gauge, but you can check it by turning the key to run the pump for a few seconds. This should give you full pressure in the gauge. Now if your fuel pump is on a seperate fuse than the ECM (i doubt it but never know), you can pull it and crank the motor. If the pressure stays the same, the the injectors haven't opened at all. If the fuses are the same, forget that idea.
A scantool would be ideal right now to check the sensors. It beats the hell out of throwing parts at the problem (cheaper too in most cases).Ben

If fuel pressure is at rail doen't mean the injectors are working right you need to test each one for impedance. It is possible the KPS is bad even though new, defective parts are like on average of 20% brand depending.I am back

well i got the car back and it turned out to be a compression problem. Like I said I got the engine rebuilt 3 months before this happened, so again I got it rebuilt. They didin't rebuilt my engine but its from another rebuilt. Thank god for the 2 yr warrenty.a.k.a John K.
