  • OKAY F'ed Coolant issue

the other day my "low coolant" light went on...but when i started driving it shut off. i was puzzled.... i looked at my tank and it was empty... but there was coolant in the radiator... so i went though the proper anti-freeze mixing and filling procedures... and its filled and has been ever since... and that was about a week ago... this happened to me a long time ago in the beginning of winter i think it was about 2 years ago... but i flushed my system and changed the thermostat at that time ... ... i check all of my fluids regularly... i just changed my oil i remember checking it when i did my oil and it was at a good level .... and a little over a gallon of it was gone when i filled it. so... what could be the cause of this mysterious sudden drop in my anti-freeze... i drove about 150miles when it was about 10 degrees outside a few days prior to the fluid drop. Any thoughts on this issue... i dont think it is a head gasket because there is no oil in my current anti-freeze and there isnt an excess amout of steam coming out of my exaust and since i filled it it has not gone down.... i thought of posting this when i was thinking about my dead batt situation... hey thanks for the input.

Simple explination. Water evaporates and goes out the overflow tube. It will never stay all the way full and will need topping up from time to time
