    Guys,

Since I have been having problems with water getting into my oil it has got me paranoid about the head gaskets.

Robby answered that the dash temp comes from the rear head. I see the sensor and it is at the corner of the head below the EGR valve. What I am wondering and worrying about is this. That temp sensor is on what would be the outside of the water passage and I know that my water level was really low so even if the temp gauge never went into the red (actually never more than 3/4 of the way) I am wondering if the heads could still be warped?

OK. I see from the sensor section that there is also a temp sensor near the thermostat. That one is what the computer uses for running the engine right? So the second one is a back-up? Would either one getting too hot turn on a dash light?

I am going to replace intake gaskets and re-torque using thread lock and if that doesn't work its off to the charity lot with BL.

The computer doesnt see the 2nd one for the dash, so its not backup. Do a compression test if you are worried about the head gaskets. You need the pushrods installed but the lower intake can be off for this.

OK, so you are saying that the engine control one, the one at the thermostat is the one that would make the idiot light come on?
