if your cap isnt sealed your coolant will boil at 45 degrees cooler than if it is and if you have a 50/50 mixture thats not very hot
the purpose of the cap is to increase the preasue which increases the boinling point 3 degrees for every psi
most caps are 15 psi it a very important part of the cooling system

        well if you run it
wont the pressure push the air to the coolant tank
then you can get it out that way
you know just take the cap off a little till you start hearing it hiss
be carefull though and do it slow

Ummmm.....mid 90's Camaros didn't have the 3.1L. Sounds like neither one of you know what you're talking about, lol.

I asked for a '90 Camaro 3.1 at Advance and he gave me a 180° Stant SuperStat. Try asking for a 90-92 (only years the F-body got the 3.1).

Use the bleeder screws. Im not sure on your particular setup but mine has 2. One near the T-stat, and another on the heater core return line near the firewall. I bleed the lower one first and then the upper one (heater return sits higher). I have also heard of just putting the car up on ramps and running it for a bit with the cap off.

For bleeding, get the car warmed up so there is pressure in the system, then open the bleeders slowly till you hear it hiss. It may just spit fluid out but you want a solid stream, then close it. That should pretty much cover you on the bleeding.

TA DAH!!!!!! Well I went to another parts store today and told them "I want a thermostat for a 90 Camaro with the 3.1L!" What do you know, I got a 180 degree stat made by Stant. I also found out that the other places I was going to had Stant stats, but in there own boxes, and thats why the numbers wouldnt match up. Any way I got the new stat ( by the way it is Stant #13848 ) and a new seal, so I guess this weekend I will try this again. Thanks for all the help everybody.

Well, not that I can tell. I have been running about 120 miles a day for about a month with no real problems. By "no real problems" I mean I think I still might have a little air left to bleed out. At the same time though, I havent been bleeding it at all, just driving it.
