  • Uh oh, something's leaking

Well, when I to change my oil, I noticed some bright orange-red liquid underneath the car. It sort of looks like Dex-Cool, but I'm not sure that it is. What could it be? What color is transmission fluid?

Tranny fluid is red. Dexcool is obviously orange. But the tranny will usually only leak onto itself. Where does it appear to be comming from?

not true, the tranny will leak onto itself, but the air blows it under the entire car. you havent seen a mess till you see a car with a blown out front tranny seal, and it has tranny fluid on the back window and trunk.

if its orange, its likely dexcool. if your tranny has a dipstick (i dont know your car or year, so hard to tell what tranny it is) pull it and compare it to what you found under the car.

From what I remember, there was some on top of the transmission, and some on an A/C line under/near the transmission. I'll see if I have a transmission dipstick in the morning. It's a bit rainy/dark right now.
