  • Dual Coil Springs Noisier than stock?

question... do the GMPP dual coil valve springs cause a bit of "lifter tick" type noise due to the dual coils?

the problem i have a guys S-10 that i stuck a brand new GMPP 3.4L crate engine into it. and he's complaining about Lifter tick from the enigne.

have it apart right now adjusting the lash/preload of the lifters.. just got thinking of this as im looking at the springs...

ah we'll i'll have to finish adjusting the other bank and see what it sounds like.

    thanks

Do you mean just at start up? or all the time?

I noticed I had a little bit of lifter tick at start up. Took a few months of driving, and few months of not driving, and it finally went away.

well so far all the time. noticable at idle... tickety tickety. tick... nothing major. but this is an older guy who owns the truck and is freaking out as he thinks the lifters are fuct...

I do not notice any noise from my springs. The inner flat spring is not a spring, it is a damper.

The crate engine come adjusted from the factory. If cam break in was sucessful then it should be no louder than any other engine.

Could it be an exhaust leak? Old manifolds could be warped.

Give it time to break in and then address any noise if it even exists after that.
