  • Rocker Arm Tightening Question

I own a 1995 monte carlo with the 3.1L engine in it. I recently had to take off the heads to fix the threads for spark plug #1 and we cannot seem to get the rocker arm nuts tightened, or adjusted for that matter, the correct way. We adjust them until they sound good and seem to work without the valve covers on then put the engine back together just to have them start knocking again. What we lack is the correct tightening specification.. and any help would be appreciated,

    Aaron

you torque them down to spec, you do not adjust or 'set' them. Check in the link but I think its 18 ft/lbs

          yeah, im that good

Actually I just torqued down the 3.4DOHC intake the other night, which was also 18 ft/lbs. Gm pretty much sticks with the same numbers based on fastener size (8mm threads, 10mm head)
