ok on the way to work sunday morning i noticed my voltage pretty low like when you just turn the key on to ge stuff powered but not actually tunring the car on so i changed the alternator solved the problem till about 7 monday night when i noticed my lights were kinda dim i looked at the gauge and the needle was in the same place. so pretty much its running off the battery without charging it. last night it died on me in my driveway could this be a computer prob because i have 2 computers from the same year car with all the same stuuf in it smae typr of car but the numbers are different. any help would be good

You didn't use the new alternator to charge the battery did you?

Check your power and ground cables. The battery may be the culprit killing the altnernators too.

when i changed the battery out the first time i just bought a new battery cause it was after that really cold winter. both batteries were fine one was a yellow top and the other was a interstate both heavy duty ones. battery cables look fine no corrosion on the ends that meet the car

My point is, the alternator keeps the battery charged, it is not meant to charge a dead battery. It overloads the voltage regulator. You might get by sometimes, but not too often. When you change the alternator, charge the battery.

last night i changed the battery cause my car died right across the street from my house .so it should be ok with the different alternator considering its already charged. even so im charging the other battery i got so well tyr that tomorow morning.

It wouldnt surprise me if the alternator isnt toast again. I had a spell on my old 92 where I went through 4 alternators in less than a year

the last 2 were junkyard alternators cause i didnt have the money to buy a new one. time to find one of the ones with a lifetime warrenty wouldnt really surprise me either but i dont even have my stereo hooked up in my car so theres no huge power drains from that.

I didnt have any stereo stuff in my old 92, just a head unit. All my alternators had some sort of warranty, so they were free when they broke. I had one break, and I mean, disintegrate, 15 min after I put it in. I was around 4K rpms, and I heard a loud pop, then grind, and my charge light came on. Took it off, pieces fell out of it, LOL
