    I heard from some workshop guy sth about a little failure of a rotor in oil pump that may/does usually cause above phenomena in 3400 LA1.
    That result in slow oil circulation(to the lifters) while idling.
    What surprises me though oil pressure indicator should show it somehow ?
    But it does not.
    Does anybody know a thing about it ?

    Normal for the 3100's and 3400's to make the noise. Every one I have heard made the noise.

      The gen3 engines are loud due to the camshaft design, it basically echo's and makes alot of 'lifter' style tick noises. just due to the Hollow Pressed on lobe design.
