Hey everyone,
My 06 Malibu Maxx SS has been having this issue for the last year or so. I rarely drive it but plan on doing so more so I would like to get it fixed. In the last year it threw a code for cam position sensor one time but it has never reappeared. I have the part but it is a pain to install on this car but I will do so soon just to give it a shot.
It is intermittent in severity but is always present.
At idle the RPMs often softly bounce up and down. It is very gentle and rhythmic almost seems like it is something it is supposed to do it is so subtle at times.
At light throttle (1k to 2k) rpm it pulses up and down very rapidly and again rhythmic and gentle. You can feel a slight jerking forward when it does this. Pressing the gas any harder and it responds perfectly with no power loss.
Here is all maintenance and replacement that I have done during this issue with no difference. All the mods the car has have been in place for at least 10k before the issue arose
New AC Delco MAF. Got it for an absolute steal and figured it was worth a shot
Pressure tested intake arm after TB
Checked MAP, and all other hoses that plug into the intake manifold to make sure they were snug
Clean TB every other oil change or so
New Plugs
New Wires
100% trans fluid exchange with new filter
Here is a video of it idling when the issue is at its worst.
I thought this may be related to the weird surging the uplanders have due to bad trans components but this does it at idle as well
