Need Help Fast

I have bought a 1988 S-10 engine ( 2.8 L ) to go into my 1989 RS. My question is are the heads and the cams the same? Should i use the heads and cam off off the orginal engine cause i have bought the engine complete and heard it run. I am just trying to figure out if everything is the same or different. I know the basics like changing sheet metal and water pumps, but other than that any suggestions. Thanks

They should be the same.

Cam is not the same. Same profile but machined with a different centerline. An S-10 Cam has a lower torque peak.
