Check the FPR, see if you can smell gas in it(pull the vac line). If you can then it's bad, they do tend to go bad on 2.8/3.1's. Then ohm the injectors.

I ohmed out the injectors and #3 cylinder (back middle?) Kept coming up at 6 ohms. The rest were between 9 and 12 and the engine was cold. Should I consider replacement of more then just #3, I'm thinking for now just to do that one and make sure it doesn't happen again (like a short or other bad nasty problem that caused #3 to go bad in the first place.) Thanks again, I'll post my progress. I'm hoping to get it done tomorrow.

The norm is 12-15 ohms. If you can find a good price(and brand) on Rock Auto replace them all. Delco's are nice and have a better spray pattern than the old stockers. Check the wires too just incase.

Anything less than 11 ohms should be replaced. Ideally, you should just replace all 6. It will make a huge difference.

Are you supposed to put grease around the o rings before inserting them into the lower intake manifold and fuel rails? Thanks!

GM says clean engine oil for the fuel rail o-ring.... I imagine it wouldn't hurt for the intake O-rings? all 12 of mine appear to be made of the same material.

Ok, stupid question but I'm a bit desperate because I'm being intoxicated by what I think are exhaust fumes coming from the connection between the exhaust manifold and where it connects to the pipe in the engine compartment of my 1993 olds cutlass Ciara. Is the catalytic converter in the muffler? I'm wondering if it's clogged and I might just be better off cutting the pipe just before the muffler. Thoughts? PA changed the O2 Sensor today and did not help. It runs better but I'm still choking on fumes...

The converter is about mid way under the car. It sure could be clogged, but you must have a leaking gasket at the manifold too. Magnaflow converters don't cost that much and flow better than your stock one. Should be able to find a universal in the right size for around $150.

                    How's the Sunbird?

Sorry for not getting back, I have not been able to make time to finish putting the Pontiac back together. I hope I can do it this week because I'm for hand surgery (carpal tunnel) next Monday which will set EVERYTHING back about two weeks, I'll keep you posted! Thanks again!!!
