  • push rod guides, how to install, benefits?

I am going to be redoing a lot of the gaskets in my car shortly. I noticed the head gasket set comes with push rod guides. How hard are these guides to install? What does it require to install them? What are the benefits of installing these guides? Thanks.

P.S. - my car has 181,000 miles on it.

If you are getting new guides then install them for sure. They will replace the old ones. All that is required is to un-bolt the old and bolt in the new. Old ones can wear. Always nice to have new stuff.

        The engine is the 3100.

So basicly the push rod guides are a 5 minute job?

Do you have roller rockers or not? What year? If you have roller rockers they are self aligning. DO NOT INSTALL the guides if you have roller rockers. Only replace guides if your engine already has them.
