The oring will seal it up good. The gasket can be insurance.

Do I need to "prime" the oil pump drive before reinstalling it?

Never needed to, also never ran across it in the factory repair manuals.

I was thinking to seal up hoses with high temp silicon and clamps, and sealing the electronics with same, so to clarify what you are saying, there is a seal that has to go where the oil pump 'top' seats down on the block/intake manifold and electronic connections should be coated with dielectric grease before being reconnected? Also, I saw some talk somewhere about packing the drive with petroleum jelly or grease to maintain a prime on the system, should I be doing that?
New clamps are all that are really needed on the hoses. Those spring loaded ones are a bit on the old side(the stock ones).
Yeah guess we should have something about where the O-ring is. But it is the only thing there he,he.
You are right about where the dielectic grease goes.

Never did prime my drive and it worked just fine.

Thanks. I'm hoping that on Thursday I can get (at least most of) this thing back together, thanks!

Sure hope you do, this car has been laid up for a long time. Just so know: it takes me two or three days to do a lower intake manifold gasket. For most people it takes hours.
If you need any torque specs just ask.

This has been quite the learning process/curve! I think i need another station car so we always have at least two in service because I see that this is "do-able" but with my limited knowledge, experience, and time, these projects can take some time to complete !(without rushing and getting it wrong)

I can understand, I want it fixed the way that it should be. Just would like it to be a one and done kind of thing. Not that it works out that way all the time.

I hope this is a one and done....I hadn't considered the possibility that it wouldn't be until your last post!

Do you mean things don't always go exactly according to plan in auto repair??? Lol
