  • Still trying to locate oil leak...

I have a 1991 sunbird 3.1l and it seems that oil is leaking but there is no mixing of oil with coolant, does that make it unlikely to be a head gasket or intake manifold gasket, or could that still be the case? There is no oil coming out of the valve covers, only lower down. Thoughts? Thanks!

Did you check the oil pump drive o-ring?

#1 is the retaining bolt, #2 is the oil pump drive (needs to e removed to access o-ring). You may need to remove the upper intake for access but the lower intake can remain in place.

Yeah remove that and the intake tubing and it should be accessible.

What is the intake tubing? Will it be obvious once it's off?

Intake tubing as in the rubber tube that connects the throttle body to the air filter housing.

in that thread it was already called out. I dont see how it was over looked if you identified that "cap" under the TB area.

Wasn't familiar with where exactly the throttle body or "cap" are. Thanks for all of the replies, I will check back after its hopefully fixed. Many thanks to all!!!

Ok so the intake manifold is off and I see a nut on the side of the crankcase much lower down that looks like it may be where the leak is originating. Could that be the location? It seems from the drawing that it would be directly under the intake manifold, please help I have to get this back together to drive to work tomorrow, lol!
