  • Question : Timing Chain Cover Gasket

I have a 1998 Lumina LS with a 3100. The timing chain cover gasket is leaking coolant again. I have the cover stripped of parts except I can't get the key out of the crank and of course the cover won't slide over the key. I also need to replace the crank seal while the cover is removed.

Any tips to get the key out of the crank and tips on replacing the seal?

I've never had to remove the key to get the cover off. As long as the balancer is removed the cover should come off just fine

      This ^^^

The key in the crank will slide through the opening in the front cover just fine, there's lots of space.

A picture of what you're dealing with might help clear up what your problem is exactly.
