  • Code P0336

I got a code for the crankshaft position sensor A circuit Range/performance. does anyone know if thats the 24x sensor or 3x sensor. Now the 24x is the one that sits behind the pulley where is the 3x sensor?

    thanks

it sits almost between the engine and the tranny, on the passenger side of the car. the VSS mounts on top of the tail shaft and the 3x sensor should be in the side of the engine, but close to the VSS.

here's the sensor I got, so I gotta remove the timing chain cover? does that mean removing all the pulleys. I think I need a manual

yes, remove the belt and the pull the crank pully off with a crank puller, and it's right there. it's about an hour job, but if it's your first time, it'll probaably take 2-3 hours. hope that helps

thanks for clearing that up. I was pretty confused cuz when I bought the sensor the guy at the dealership said I did'nt need to remove the pulley.

well the first sensor didn't help the problem so now I got the other sensor and when I get a chance I'll put it in.

There is no 3X sensor. That signal is created by the ICM.
There is a 7X sensor located on the right hand side of the engine or if the engine is transverse mounted it is towards the rear of the car, seen looking up between the engine and the transmission, towards the center of the engine above the oil pan rail.
The 24X sensor is behind the damper, or harmonic balancer, when it is replaced the PCM needs to have a relearn procedure done. $100. or so at a dealer.
The Cam sensor is located under the powersteering pump, in front of the LIM.
Hope this helps others, that need this information.
