  • Source for injector seal that fits into manifold

03 Malibu LS 3.1 I can post the vin later if that helps.

Besides the upper and lower O rings there is a gasket, or grommet or sleeve that fits over the lower end of the injector and seals it in the intake manifold. I had one bad fuel injector but when I removed the fuel rail 3 of these seals were cracked or split.

I have checked with all the major parts suppliers and no one lists them and the dealer told me they only come with a new injector. I am not going to spend $300 on to replace 3 good injectors just to get the seals. Before I head for the local u pull it yard to yank fuel rails until I find 3 good seals in 105 degree heat I was wondering if anyone knows of a source or part# for these seals.

Thanks for any responses in advance.

Try a different dealer. I've replaced the lower injector seals and bought them from a dealer, so maybe the person you're working with is either misinformed or just too lazy to look it up in the computer.

For plan "B", take one of the old seals to the parts store to see if they can match it from a loose seal kit that most stores have on hand even though they may not have a specific part number listed for it in the computer system. Make sure you tell them what kind of seal it is so they give you an equivalent replacement. Not all auto parts stores are created equal, so you may have to check around a bit to find what you need.

I don't know as though you can buy them by themselves, but they come in injector rebuild kits.

I had to go to the local u pull it yard looking for something else and I found a similar 3.1 that someone had been kind enough to have already removed everything down to the fuel rails. So I found 6 that are all in good shape.

          Pintle caps don't seal anything.

I can understand the o rings actually seal the fuel injector on the top in the fuel rail and on the bottom in the manifold so what purpose do the the pintle caps serve?

To keep the o-ring in place.
