  • 3.1 lho v6 seafoam,,, no smoke??

I've got a 93 lumina base model with the 3.1 in it. Been running a bit rough at idle when at normal temps. So I decided to use some seafoam after a good drive and see what kind of results I would get. I poured a little more than 1/3 of the can into a container, and let it get sucked into the brake booster line that connects to the upper plenum.

When I first started the car (before using the seafoam) it was running awful with the brake booster line off, then as I went to pour the seafoam through it started revving itself to around 2k rmps. I continued to pour for about a good 45 seconds. The car started stumbling and right before it was about to stall I shut it off and let it sit for 30 minutes.

Connected the brake booster line and started the car, a small bit of smoke shot out for a split second then stopped. And never continued smoking after that.

Did I do something wrong here? I did some reading before I did it to get an idea on how to do it. I feel like it shouldve been smoking like crazy since the car has 242k

Also if it helps,, I put the rest of it in a half tank of gas

it should have smoked a little, did you rev it up at all or just let it idle?

i've never gotten a large amount of smoke out of any car i seafoam.... then again, i'd like to think it's due to me keeping an internally clean engine.
1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E...for now, future plans include driving it until the wheels fall off!

i let it idle for about 15 seconds waiting for something to come out, and when nothing did thats when i decided to rev it a little. about 3-4k. and even then i got nothing.

honestly i want to say it has more response from a stop, but then again that could be just me hoping for the best lol. still has a rough idle.

well now that i think about it, when i replaced the head gaskets on the car, the shop that i took the heads to be milled at cleaned the valve faces and the area around them. and i cleaned the tops of the cylinders while i was down there.
