  • Those TBI injectors are expensive, unless....

I cooked one of the TBI injectors on my 2.8. The parts places want about $100 ea for them. I yanked one at the self-service junkyard. I told the cashier it was a "solenoid" instead of a "high dollar fuel injector". She told me to just take it for free! Was I dishonest?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the u-pull-it rules! They have let me walk out with all sorts of things! I turn around and sell them on eBay for a nice little profit!

I try to give them a chance at making a profit off me. It usually works out. I once spotted a motorcycle frame (older honda 450) and front forks with wheels in the back of a pickup. They told me they were NOT a motorcycle junkyard, and would be in trouble for having things like that. Their thinking was that I was doing them a favor by getting it out of there. Took it home for free.

Yeah, they're cheap enough without having to rip them off, but if they let you walk out with parts and not charge for them, who am I to complain?

i personaly dont steal stuff from the junkyards, im to honest. i try to still get stuff free. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. i always bring cash, cause if its cash they sell it for cheaper, i dont pay tax (they dont run it through the computer) and the cash goes into the guys pocket (i always deal with the owner).

im going to see how cheap i can get a motor if i pay cash. being im getting a core to build up, and they dont keep stock of their cores, i should get it pretty cheap.

Have you tried the impound tow yards? I got my '86 2wd blazer at auction for $150. They delivered it for 20 dollars.

well, im only looking for a motor and dont have room to store a vehicle. all i basicly need is the long block anyways. the junkyard i go to has about 8-10 of them, and they never sell them (3.1l luminum apv) because they are vehicle specific. im guessing i can pick up a core for a couple hundred bucks canadain, if not cheaper.
