Was there any other engine damage... Pistons "Kissed"... Supposedly ... the early 660 engines with iron heads were not interference engines...but with the heads off maybe you could see if anything got "smacked" and allowed the chance of bent rods? First thing to check is whether the Fuel Pressure Regulator has gone bad. This can be easily diagnosed by simply pulling off the Small Black Vacuum Line from the side of that "Little Black Top Hat" vacuum chamber on the top of the Fuel Rail. If you either see pure, liquid gasoline coming out of that line or smell the heavy odour of fuel there...you will have found the culprit. RockAuto sells a Repair Bladder Kit for around $75.00, but you will also need a tool kit containing "Special Torx" drivers that will insert into the set of screws around that top hat....and fit inside the Torx Screw Head and over the small pins sticking up from inside these special fasteners. Make certain you bleed off any residual fuel pressure via depressing the Schrader "Bicycle Tire" Valve into a catch rag BEFORE attempting this repair...and IIANM...this fix can be done WITHOUT having to remove the Fuel Rail and injectors to do the job right. Park the vehicle away from the house and keep a fire extinguisher handy. Take the Ground Cable off of the battery B4 you open or undo any part of the fuel system to affect this repair. Lay out a clean, white work towel that you can lay out the new and old parts on and not drop or lose any of those damned tiny Torx Screws and you will not regret all this preparation.Last edited by 60dgrzbelow0; 02-22-2012, 09:09 AM.

Ok guys this car has 45 psi fuel pressure, has fire through all plugs ,new pressure regulator, new crank sensor, new map sensor, new mass air flow sensor, new oil pressure switch,father-in-law put a new computer in it that i didnt think it needed. From what we can tell the injectors are not kicking in .There is voltage to the injectors and the ohms are from 12.1 to 12.4. Please let me know what would keep the injectors from working.

The Security light on the dash should blink if VATS is shutting off the car. Sometimes the hammers in the key switch fail and the car won't start at all. Fuel pressure issues would allow sputtering then die. Unless pressure was a constant atmosphere (14.5 psia)
If it is VATS, the solution can be simple if your willing.
Measure the resistance on your key chip. All it is is a simple resistor. Go to radio shack and put together the same resistance (shop can help, it's easy). Find the wire that runs from the switch, do a little searching to determine what color wire is yours. But be SURE you DO NOT cut airbag wires.
Wire in the resistors to the wire side that leads awa from the switch.
Your going to trick the cars security system to see a proper resistance, thinking it is the right key. You can use the same key unaltered.
If your crafty, make a small box that can plug in/out. In bad areas, that box will prevent the car from running if removed and put in your pocket.1996 Grand Prix | 3100v6 L82 | T04E-50 Turbo | Getrag 282 w/ EP LSD | SPEC-3 Clutch

well, lets take this problem apart a bit for you, what do the injectors need to fire that the coils do not. And where could this problem be.
If it was my best bet, i would check at the coil packs, make sure the other side of the crank sensor plug is still pluged in. no bad wires, ext. then i would also check all your fuses starting with the ECM.
IIRC the injectors wont fire till a certian oil pressure is achived.

If your fuses are good, check the seven pin connector on the ICM. I suspect the ECM isn't getting a signal from the ICM. The coils will fire with the seven pin disconnected. If it is connected, it could still have a loose connection or broken wire. You can verify then signal to the ECM by connecting a scanner and checking the RPM while cranking.MinusOne - 3100 - 4T60E

I thought that was the other 2 pin that sent the crank signal to the ECM, oh well
Sent from my iPhone using my iPhone at work cuz I have nothing to do

Well, since it was running and nothing was done to it for it to fail....hmmm
Bad fuel injectors will still get a sputter, backfire or attempt to run. I doubt all 6 would fail at once. You got fuel pressure.....
8 miles seems like enough time to heat up the engine and then melt a wire touching exhaust. Check the crank sensor wire.
How did the car die? Be as detailed as possible, many clues there.1996 Grand Prix | 3100v6 L82 | T04E-50 Turbo | Getrag 282 w/ EP LSD | SPEC-3 Clutch
