  • Coolant quick disconnect coupling

    Hello,

It's been a while since I've been here, lots of changes to site.

Anyhow, I still have my 97' Lumina with 3100 engine w/ original intake. The intake for this year has a type of quick disconnect coupling on the right side of the engine for a coolant line (heater hose?--can't remember), underneath the throttle body area next to the thermostat housing.

I've replaced the coupling before with an identical part, but it seems to still leak, a bad design it seems.

I while back, I remember on this site that someone replaced it entirely with a coupling of their own design.

My question is, what do you recommend I could replace it with so it doesn't leak again?

I guess I could come up with something on my own from the hardware store, but I figure I wouldn't reinvent the wheel.

    Thanks.

    Is this what you mean:
Buy Dorman 800-401 Heater Hose Connector Compatible with Select Models: Heater Hose Connectors - Amazon.com ✓ FREE DELIVERY possible on eligible purchases

I would look for a plumbing fitting. Whatever size pipe thread that is maybe 1/2" to a male hose barb that fits your heater hose. I've seen those before made of brass. Might get lucky at home depot...

Yes, that is the part. Cheap to buy, but I don't think I'll reinstall another one.
