Time for a tune up

It is time for a tune-up on our 3.1 TBI Pontiac TS SE.

The options for spark plugs (copper, platinum and so on), spark plug wires (classic, silicon-core, performance) and distributor cap are so many.

From your experience which would be the best choice in spark plugs/wires/distributor kit for this engine in terms of performance/fuel economy?

With sparkplugs, the difference between the copper/platinum/iridium is mainly cost and longevity. Copper is the cheapest but have the shortest life and need to be frequently regapped while iridium lasts the longest but is the most expensive. You can definitely save money on avoiding gimicky tip designs like multiple electrode ones. If there's a brand to avoid it would be Bosch, their plugs are known to have issues in these engines.

For plugwires I would suggest sticking with ACDelco. There's no reason to go with "performance" wires unless you're having problems with radio interference or want extra colour under the hood.
