  • Valve cover screw removal

Who knows how to get the valve cover screws out of the seals in the aluminum 3.1 head covers? I tried punching them out of the old plastic covers and just broke them up. Larry

I've replaced them in the 3x00 ones by popping them out with a screwdriver and hammer. I've no idea how much different the covers are between gen 2 and gen 3 though. I do know the 3x00 replacement ones were different than the original, so I had to be careful and watch how they formed when torqued down.

I just used some needle nose pliers, got under the plastic insert in the rubber gromet/seal, then just pried them up and out. Some of them lost the little robber barb part that holds them in the cover, but the seal part looks good. Larry
