  • stalling, odd noise after short runs

(I have a 1995 camaro 3.4 5m. I've been having a stalling issue. It stalled outright the other day, going down a hill and would not start again till it was allowed to sit for 5 or so. Then it started right up, ran a few more miles, and stalled again. Since then I've noticed an odd whistle/hiss, that starts at 1/3 pedal and gets lounder/higher as pedal or load increases. I've cut my cat out, its fine. Put it back in and installed a inline spark tester on the 5 cylinder. I've been told by several mechanics these engines have a common problem with the ICM, so hoping to catch that next time it stalls.
The check engine light comes on occasionally, accompanied by a few seconds of missing.
It seems to be more likely to stall when hissing for a bit. Today racing my boss home, I noticed it changed to a higher note a few seconds before stalling. Ended up on a road with no shoulder and bad traffic so I couldn't check the spark.
Anyway, any thoughts on this would be nice. Also, how can I get a 95 scanned for codes? Autozone only has obd2 and I don't know anyone with a scan tool, nor can I justify one yet.
Also, I'm fairly certain this isn't stalling from lack of fuel as it runs rich all the time. Might it be possible I'm getting too much fuel and flooding the thing out?
