  • Heater hose routing

I just did a head job on a 1996 monte 3100. I was wondering which way the heater hoses go I don't know if I put them on backwards.

    Thanks

I'm not sure either, but worst case, they are on backwards and the hot coolant flowing in the opposite direction that it has for the past 15 years will probably clean any crap out of the heater core that might have gotten stuck in there over time. Normally, though, molded hoses will basically show you where they get hooked up at.

I looked at another monte with a 3100 in it. I did it right, the top hose goes to the water pump cross over. The bottom goes on the lower intake where it joins a fitting. You were right the hoses basically fit that way but I still wasn't sure .

      Thanks for your help!

If its anything like my car, the heater core uses two slightly different size hoses

Most GM's use a 3/4" hose and a 5/8" hose on the core so they get hooked up right.
