    iron heads stopped being produced around '95 or so, you might find a bare casting in a GM parts warehouse but they'll probably need guides, valve seats, valves and all the hardware. You are looking at over a grand right there.


    If you have a blown headgasket you'll be able to see it when you take the head off. As someone mentioned before, in stock form these engines don't have headgasket issues.. especially the gen1's. Anything is possible if the install wasn't correct though.

      I found some heads over at ProStock for $315 each, but maybe the sales guy on the line is mistaken. Otherwise, nobody in my town does port and polish and they all refer me to CNC machining (states-side) and that requires a program for flow and if the program doesn't exist for 3.4l heads than it's $1000 to set one up.
