  • using sealant on LIM gaskets

Just did the LIM gaskets on a friends 3100 grand am. I used the felpro "PermaDryPlus" metal gasket. the gasket said not to use sealant, but out of stubborn habit i put a thin layer of RTV on the mating surfaces so the gasket would stay put while i was installing everything.

now after thinking about it, i'm a little worried. question is, will this hurt anything or create leaks later on? or am i good?

I doubt it will hurt anything or cause any leaks. Next time don't bother with the silicone- the rubber seals fine on its own and the only place that calls for it on a LIM gasket job is the ends. There are a couple pins on the gaskets that hold them in place though, so no need to use anything else to hold them in place.
