  • Question about spark plug wires

I have some spiral core spark plug wire I need to use.

Can I use it on the 1999 chevy 3100 engine? Or do I need something with more core resistance?

    Thank You, Jimmy

As long as it is listed as "suppressor" type wire, it's usable. I believe it's in the 1k ohm per foot range.

The wire is ACCEL 5000 Series type wires. The wire has suppession for RFI.
I don't believe the wires have suppression for MFI.
I think I am going to have to use another type wire.
Is Bosch spark plug wires good ones to use? Or wires from Taylor cable?

I might be picky, but I usually use MSD or Taylor suppressor type wire. I have seen 250 ohm per foot wire used successfully when routed properly and kept away from the critical sensor circuits. Also, unless you are running a big squeeze box, AC Delco's Delcore wire will perform just fine and it's made by the people who invented our little nightmares.

Those Accel wires will work fine. Your not going to find a wires that say "Suppression for MPFI". The suppression comes from the conductor being wrapped around a ferrite core which has a high absorption rate of electromagnetic energy. The tighter the wire is wrapped and the quality of the core will both contribute to the suppression.
